Afterglow 2011 - Day 2 Sunday

By this point I'm sure it was well passed midnight. It might have even been approaching the witching hour of 2am for all I know. The only thing that I am sure of is that the fire was out and we were all getting cold and tired. The only remedy for that was a nice warm bed.

Someone has to sit around and wait for the fire to burn out and that someone is usually me. One doesn't want to incur the wrath of Teenage Smokey the Bear telling me that only I can prevent forest fires. Once the embers had burned out and the remaining sparks doused by nearby rainwater, the fire pit was covered in rocks to cover up the evidence. Of course by releasing these pictures to the general public I am in essence splashing the evidence all over the crime scene. And in the court of law that will make me undeniable guilty as charged. I had an outlawed fire.

The sombrero is made up of mostly straw, which is probably why it burned so well. We set it on the fire and within seconds it literally burst into flames that shot a good 3 feet in the air. I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of sombreros in my day, but none of those times involved setting them on fire. I seriously underestimated how sweet this would be. I wish that I had an entire case of these so that I could burn one every week throughout the summer. So if anyone is looking for a birthday gift for me... (May 6 - hint hint.)

James and Melissa found their way up to CK and I'm kind of wondering how. I must have drawn them a "Pirate's buried gold" style map complete with X marks the spot. That's the only way they could have figured out where we were. This place is a secret.

I'm still not set on what I really believe as far as Religion and God and everything goes because my faith has been tested recently in my life. But if I am to hold rue what I grew up believing then there is a God and if we are good we all go up to Heaven when we die. Who knows where Heaven is but the common consensus is that it is up. I wanted to give Timmy a sombrero to wear. And the only way that I knew how to get it to him was to burn it so it could rise up to Heaven. I hope that he got it because Timmy loved sombreros. I wouldn't want him to be without one.
