Afterglow 2013 - Day 7 Friday

The kids love selfies. That's all you see on Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat these days. But did you know that adults love them too? But of course! Everyone loves selfies. Selfies, selfies, don't you know you love them so? Selfies, selfies, whether your at home or on the go. I just made a Selfie song. Where's my million dollars? There's been plenty of other no talent hacks who came up with catchy songs and profited off of them. Why should I be any different? I don't know where that was going, so check out my Mom taking selfies with Aunt Carol and Aunt Maria. If you are going to act like a kid and stay young, why not do it with a selfie? Makes perfect sense.

The fire was roaring strong and full into the night, and the small but faithful crowd was enjoying their last night at Afterglow. Like always, there was no place on Earth that I would rather be than right here right now. If you don't understand my reasoning then you've never been here. I pity you for not understanding how truly captivating and all encompassing this place really is. Nothing else matters except for the here and now and you can live in the moment. Life should always be like this year round. I wish I could figure out how to feel this way without being up here. Someday I may learn. Who knows. But for now, there's only one place left to go - Afterglow.

But the people who came out to enjoy the fire and the fake it till you make it music were forgiving because they are family. I don't think there was anyone in attendance that night who was somehow related to me. Yet somehow I don't know who won.

There was music that night as well. The Back Alley Burners were doing their best to entertain the amassed crowd. Where they successful? I don't know. You'd have to ask one of the brave who suffered through their feeble attempt at musicality.

Jenny Reck was rocking the giraffe. What else is new? It's a pretty sweet piece of headgear and she is lucky to have cool friends that can make things like this. I don't think I would ever rock one, but to each their own. No one wants to see a fat giraffe. How do you get that big only eating leaves off of trees giraffe? Mom was content without proper headgear to keep warm and instead chose to focus all of her attention on chairlift or bunny hill or mogul or whatever mountain/ski related name this dog has. Look, I don't care about dogs. Mom does. That's why she's hanging out with this domesticated beast.

There's something about siblings and the bond that they share. You'll never really understand it if you are an only child or if you are too far removed in age from your closest brother or sister. Susie and Tommy get it. Brian and Stacy get it. Jenny, Timmy, James and I definitely got it. I'm hoping that you have had the chance to get it too. We should all be so lucky to have built in friends.
