Northern Arizona

As we drove North, it got colder out, and it was more of a challenge to stick my arm out the window, but I managed. I guess it snows in Arizona, once you get up in the mountains. This is also our first glimpse of snow during the drive home. And we thought we wouldn't see this stuff until Wisconsin...

We rushed to get to the Grand Canyon by sunset, but since the roads were more of the back woods type, and not interstate-expressway type. Nevertheless, I was still able to get a decent sunset picture from the car. I actually took like 23 pictures, none of them turned out just right. These were the two best I had, and ultimately decided to put these ones on here. When we got to the Grand Canyon though, it was not as expected, as the next page so aptly describes.

Northern Arizona looks more like Wisconsin than the deserts, saguaro cacti, lizards and reptiles that you see in books and such. It was as cold as Wisconsin, something I was ill prepared for.

As we drove towards the Canyon, this dense fog was literally rolling through the trees and the hillsides.  It was really cool. You couldn't see too well at all as we climbed in elevation, but when the mountains leveled out, the weather became much nicer.
