Camping with Dad (2009)

I would start a fire every night if I had the chance. I can't wait to have a back yard and disposable income to buy all the wood I need to satisfy my hunger for fire. I tried to work it out of my system while I had access to firewood, but I was only able to delay it.

Despite being the 2nd weekend of August, it was a little bit nippy up here. One of the weird things about Wisconsin (and most likely every body of land near the water) is that it is almost always cooler near the lake. I waded in the water, but it was too cold to go all in.

All the sudden it is night time and surprise surprise, it is raining again. I don't know anymore what we did this day, but I bet that it was a whole lot of nothing. I know I've said it before, but Afterglow takes a lot out of me, and I need a recovery vacation. This was it.

Even though I took a relaxing vacation, I certainly wasn't on holiday from drinking lots of booze and Starting the Revolution. The only difference was out here I was alone in my principles. I know that my cousins were joining me in spirit and that I wasn't really alone.

I know Point Beach State Park due to my earlier camping adventure here (as mentioned) so I knew about the fog. But back in 2004 I had yet to see the movie "The Mist" due to the fact that it wasn't released until 2007. If you've seen the movie then you know how creepy mist really can be. If you haven't check it out, but you can at least understand what it is like to be faced with the unknown that lies behind what you cannot see. Thankfully it was day time, or else I really could have seriously creeped myself out on the beach expecting monsters to come kill me.

This morning was a rough one. Aside from my whiskey and fire induced hangover, it was a little cold and fog rolled in off of the lake. But last night was awesome. I don't think that I previously mentioned this, but I brought along my pocket radio so that I could listen to the Brewers games. AM 620 really is "the biggest stick in the State" as I was able to get a clear signal even up here. The Brewers cruised to a 11-2 victory last night thanks to an 8 run 1st inning, and I cruised to passing out in the rain outdoors thanks to some Canadian Whiskey.
