California Spring Break (Day 9)

This picture makes me think of the movie E.T. I half expected an alien starship to fly out and drop off a lonely red-chested long-necked Reeses Pieces-addicted alcoholic alien. Then Elliot would have to show up and whine, Drew Barrymore would act cute, and the older brother would be unnecessary to the entire situation. But I would have liked to ride my bike across a sky such as this. I think that I actually phoned home at this moment, telling my family "I'll beeee right heere."

There were these telescope things that you could look through, providing that you pay a quarter, but I'm not that rich, so I knocked over a little kid and stole the last minute of their time. I'm just kidding; someone left one with some time left on it, so I jumped at the chance to photograph the citizens below, like the Grinch.

This place could make a fortune if they labeled it a kiddy-park maze and charged double admission, cause it had more twists and turns in it that the old-school Chuck E. Cheese maze. There were so many levels, balconies, and staircases that my Dad lost me and ended up upstairs when I was downstairs.

I sat on top of this rock like a mountain goat, escaping a predator and getting a moments rest. It was quite a challenge to get up there, but it was definitely worth it.

It doesn't look like it from this picture, but this hollowed out tree trunk was quite large. Large enough that I might be able to go inside, providing that I could jump into it. I told my Dad that if I ever became a hermit, I would live the rest of my life in that tree trunk.

It was soon night, and the last tram for the bottom departed soon. Everyone was supposed to go down, but I told my Dad I wanted to stay up, and hide in the trees where they would never find me, then jump out at people and make jungle noises and then run away like Sasquatch. Needless to say, he wouldn't let me do that, so we caught a tram for the bottom. The ride down was spectacular, and we were treated to a plunge through the darkness, while we glanced at the city lights below.
