Florida Spring Break 2008 - Day 1

Since I had some time to kill before I had to pick my Dad up from work, I decided to go the to local Hooters, which is in between my Dad's old apartment and Universal Studios. It was a little slow there during the day (I hung with some old regulars), but I sat at the bar, drank some LandSharks, and then got a picture with this bartender. I know that smile is fake, but for a second I felt pretty cool.

I got a nice tour of the building, and I finally got to put faces to those voices that I have been talking to for the last 7 months. It was kind of cool to come down here, but I still prefer Milwaukee. Call me crazy, I guess. I changed clothes in the parking lot (don't look at me like that, I was wearing shorts under my pants) and I changed out of my business casual clothes. I put on my Rickie Weeks jersey and threw on some sandals, and I was officially on vacation. Since I still had some more time to kill until my Dad got off of work (when I had to go and pick him up) I went back to his old apartment to go swimming in the pool. He told me that he was still paying rent there, so it was ok for me to use the pool. It turns out that he was lying, and I was technically trespassing on private property. I was ready to play the little miss innocent Jenny Reck card and state that I didn't know I couldn't do that, but no one approached me, so I just had a gay old time in the pool.

The Mark Travel Corporation's Orlando office is in the same business complex as Chep, the company that my Dad worked for. I got a tour of the facility from Sam, the head of the scheduling department. He's a great guy, and I got to meet some of the people who I had only previous talked to on the phones.

I've always been a fan of Hooters. The restaurant! I've posted pics from my trips there on this website, whether it be in  California or Wisconsin. I don't know what it is about the place, but I keep on going back for more. It must be those delicious wings. That's it. It's Gotta be the wings. I really don't know what else it could be...

My Dad came and picked me up from the airport, and it was like 10:00 AM. Since it was a Wednesday, he had to go back to work. I dropped him off, then went for a drive around town. I stopped by the Walgreen's liquor store by his old apartment and picked up a case of LandShark Lager, which I would be happily drinking this week. For some reason, this stuff just tastes a whole lot better down here.
