Minnesota 2012 with Kevin - Brewers vs Twins

I hadn't seen Mason since December when he was about 1 year old. That would make him like 18 months old in these pictures. He was so cute walking around with his blanket and goofing off. Kids are so funny because they just do whatever they want at all times and don't really care who is watching. That's part of the innocence that comes with the territory. Ah to be young.

I had been to Target Field twice before, for 2 games of the Brewers/Twins series in 2010. I understand that this stadium is pretty new and that this series is a marquee event for the Twins but the tickets were insanely expensive. Where we were sitting in the Upper Deck left field bleachers was about as far away from home plate as you can get but the tickets were still $25 each. Makes me appreciate Miller Park so much more. It's nice to go on the road and experience new things but Dorothy said it right - there really is no place like home.

We were in the 2nd to last row and it took a lot of effort and energy to get up here. Energy and effort that we didn't have. Despite being young Kevin admitted that he was in pretty rough shape today. As for me I was starting to warm up to the day, at least once I settled into my seat way the hell up here. There's not much better things to do in this world than to sit out in the sun on a summer's day and watch a baseball game. And it sobers you up pretty damn fast too. That's what heat, sweating and feeling uncomfortable does to you.

And there's the happy couple. I've been referencing Mike and Katie for like 3 pages now and you finally get to see them. That is if you didn't already know what they looked like I guess. It was great to see them again and I used my inability to move as a way to sit and catch up. After all, we've been friends for a long time.

As soon as I felt like being mobile again we left our seats to grab something to eat and drink. With my stomach condition I wasn't ready to eat yet but I could use some caffeine. On the way there we saw this giant Mickey, and even though it was all dolled up in Twins colors, who can say no to Mickey? Not me. No way.

The Brewers ended up winning 6-2 thanks to 2 homers by Ryan Braun and one by Aramis Ramirez. It was good to see a victory especially here on the road with so many Brewers fans in attendance. It was almost like being at home. Almost.

We watched a couple innings from the concourse as we ate overpriced stadium food then went back to the seats. Kevin went to go find his brother Beege. He had made the trip up here from Chicago and we sat and talked for a minute. Then he was gone.

As nice as it was to see Mike and Katie I was really looking forward to seeing their kids Reese and Mason. I mean that with all due respect. I've known Mike and Katie since High School but Reese for only 4 years and 2 for Mason. I'm his Godfather and don't get to spend a lot of time with him because they live so far away. And it is amazing how much he had grown since I last seen him. He was walking, talking and doing all sorts of kid stuff like eating food off of the ground. It was good to see he was just being a normal kid.

I don't know what to do with kids. I guess it's a pretty good thing that I don't have them then. Mike on the other hand is a fantastic Dad and watching him interact with his spawn was so wonderful I probably shouldn't use the word spawn. Offspring? That's better. Kevin seems like he is good with kids but that is to be expected because he's still a kid himself. He's not that far removed from being a baby.
