Donald Trump has to have everything. It's not bad enough that he has bad hair, he also needs to own a skating rink in Central Park. His name is all over the place here, even on the Zamboni machine. I understand sponsorship and getting the brand name across, but it seemed a little out of place in an otherwise scenic ice rink.
New York City Spring Break - Day 4

These statues are made out of some form of metal that is able to withstand the trials and tribulations of a New York calendar year. It's unbelievable that these statues haven't been stolen yet, seeing as there are a lot of robbers in this town. It's most likely because they are heavy a contain more literary references than dumb criminals can handle.

Jenny always seems to take my lead and follow my example, and today would prove to be no different. She is obviously too little to smother Hans Christian Anderson, but she quickly turned upon his little creation the ugly Duckling, who was too hideous to protect himself. That little guy never even saw it coming.

There's all sorts of statues, buildings, bridges, ponds, ice rinks, trees and park stuff in Central Park. We particularly loved all of the random statues that were placed in the park that are of literary figures and story book characters. Our personal favorite was of the beloved author Hans Christian Anderson, who wrote such memorable stories like The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor's New Clothes, Thumbelina, The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling, which is featured in this statue. The statue is oversized of course (Hans was not a giant person) so Jenny looks cute and tiny sitting on his lap. I am pretty big, so I just look like I am smothering him. Since it is hard to tell a story when you cannot breathe, he kindly asked me to get off of his lap so that he could continue enlightening children of all ages with his tales.

He didn't mind that I stood next to him and looked over his shoulder, nor did he mind that I lay my head on his shoulder. He certainly had some nice words to pass along towards me about embracing your inner self and not focusing on the ugly exterior. Much like the ugly duckling, I can too someday grow up to be a beautiful swan. Time will only tell on that one though. I'll certainly know a little more when I grow out of my awkward phase that has lasted for the past 25 years. My goodness faithful readers, has it really been that long?

Although it was really cool to be here regardless of the season, I would have really loved to be here when everything is in full bloom and there are actually some people in the park. There were a few people around (it was seasonably warm out for March) but I bet this place is packed in the summer time.
