Portland February 2015 - Day 4

When we first got to Goonie/Canon Beach, we walked around for a bit to get a lay of the land. We decided to grab a bite to eat before walking down to the ocean. We found this pizza joint that sold it by the slice and had an outdoor seating area (since we had the dog). I got a Sprite and mixed in my own booze that I brought along. It wasn't too obvious, right? Go big or go home I always say. And I wasn't ready to go home. So I went big.

Jenny and I stole (well, it's not stealing if it's free) a kid's menu and some crayons from the White Eagle Saloon last night. This morning while watching Saved By the Bell we colored it in with the intention of hanging it on Mom's fridge when we got home. While we colored and flashbacked to the 90's, Stone kept watch on us and the door. I don't know what is more dangerous - the goofballs inside the house or the ones outside it. To me, it's a toss up. So well done Stone. Keep the riffraff at bay by defending your homestead. Good girl.

There were plants and the big scary city of Portland waiting outside the door, but that didn't stop us from setting out on an adventure. I know that we came out here to see Kelly and Sarah, but when Jenny reminded me that we could go to Goonie Beach (actually Canon Beach, the place where they see One-Eyed Willie's Pirate Ship sail off at the end of The Goonies), I was sold on this trip. Today we would make one of my childhood dreams a reality. I would be a Goonie. But first we needed to make the hour and a half trip from Portland to the coast. I rode shotgun while Kelly drove and Jenny cozied up to Stone in the back. She really is a good dog.
