South Carolina 2011 - The Packers

When we got back to the parking lot a bunch of black women were doing synchronized rhythmic dancing to one of those instruction songs like DJ Casper's "Cha Cha Slide". I didn't know people just broke out into dance like this outside of weddings. It was just like being in the parade scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off or when the Blues Brothers played "Shake Your Tailfeather" with Ray Charles. In those movies the black people danced in the streets and they all knew the dances like they were rehearsed. It happens in the South. I thought it was only in movies.

There were plenty of Packers fans here in North Carolina including some chicks in front of us. Gary did most of the talking and when it came to picture time I creepily snuck in the back like usual.

Kevin and I were enjoying our time up there but then again I could be anywhere with this goofy kid and have a good time. He annoys the piss out of me but I can't help but love him. He's family.

All in all this was a pretty nice stadium and Charlotte seems like a pretty cool city from where I was sitting. Of course that's like saying Logan, Utah looks like a pretty good place to raise a family despite the fact that I've never been there and I don't intend on ever raising a family. I could see the city skyline from my seat but that's not saying much because I was about dead even with it way up here. I'll admit that I get distracted easily and should have been watching the football game on the field but my eyes started to wander. That's just the way I was am.

James and Melissa were given some sweet field level seats from Dave and Brian (Schooner's Bartenders/Owners) courtesy of Miller Brewing Company so I sold 2 of my 6 tickets. So they sat down there and Kevin, Gary, Joseph and I sat way up here. At some point during the 2nd quarter James texted Joseph and said there was an extra seat down by him and it was just me and the McKissick boys. And I was fine with that. I would rather sit up in the last row with these kids than down in some hoidy toidy sponsor seats with anyone, including my brother. No offense.

I don't pretend to know enough about football to know how often they change directions during the game but at this moment the Packers were going into the endzone closest to us. The Packers ended up winning 30-23 thanks to a 16 point 3rd quarter and were 2-0 after this game en route to a 15-1 season that ended short of the Superbowl.

The Packers were lucky to pull this one out because the defense didn't show up, which would be a common occurrence during the 2011 season. But we didn't really care because so far we had one hell of a good time down here in the Carolinas. This Packers win was just the icing on an already very delicious Southern cake.
