Walt Disney World 2017 - October 18 Day 1: EPCOT

After that we kept the party going with a ride on Soarin', which is a flight motion simulator that dangles you in the air and flies you around the World courtesy of this giant dome screen. This was one of my favorite rides here because I'll probably never fly around the World like that, so this was my chance. Next we left the air and moved on to the Sea with Little Nemo and friends. But we had to walk before we could swim.

Figment is the mascot of the Imagination! pavilion at EPCOT and he pops up around the grounds. We saw him as a chef formed out of some shrubbery promoting the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, which happens this time of year. But we were content with our no food & beer as we rested before resuming our journey around the EPCOT World. After all, there was so much left to see and explore.

We had plenty of opportunities and beautiful backdrops to take family pictures, so we took advantage of them. Gotta capture these memories. I don't know if I'll ever be back here again, so why not?

If I had to choose a favorite Pixar movie, it would be Finding Nemo with Inside Out and WALL-E being a very close 2 and 3. So I was all about the Nemo ride and saying hi to some of my favorite critters from the movie. They're all a bunch of derps (especially the seagulls), so it was fitting that I had my favorite derp Jenny Reck with me. And if you know us, then you understand that I use derp in a very loving way.

After the Finding Nemo ride, you get to walk around a giant aquarium. When it was built in the 80s, it was the largest saltwater one in the World. I wish I would have taken more pictures of Jenny's Ocean friends, but all I have is this Manatee eating lettuce. But it's OK because pictures wouldn't be as good as what I saw with my eyes.

When you see London, then see France, you get to see Mickey & Minnie's underpants. Or something like that. While I was hoping for mouse panties, all I got was the Eiffel Tower. It's not a fair trade off, but I'll take it. I had to take it. What choice did I have?

I'm pretty sure we separated for a bit when we hit up the Pub because the Moms don't drink beer and Joey was juuuuussst a couple of years away from legally being able to drink. That could only explain why we aren't in this pic.

EPCOT is divided into 4 Neighborhoods. Spaceship Earth is in World Celebration, Test Track and Imagination with Figment is in World Discovery, and The Seas with Nemo and Soarin' is in World Nature. But the largest Neighborhood is the World Showcase, which is probably what people remember most about EPCOT. This allows you to tour the World without leaving the USA. I'm sure that it is an exactly the same. I don't know if I'll ever get to know the comparison, but at least I got to walk through Canada to get to the United Kingdom and have a pint at a British Pub with my siblings. We may never all get to London to do this, but I'll settle for the next best thing.

Eventually we caught up to the gang on the bridge to France and Jenny and James cheers'd their beers in en triomphe as the journey around the World continued. I guess there's this thing where you can drink around the World (getting a beverage at every EPCOT Country), but we can't afford to do that.
