Rage for Timmy III - The Bee's Knees - Day 2

I fully expected myself to act like this because I'm just about as big and ugly as a sasquatch. I also have been known to do "best mode" in the past after it was made popular by Prince Fielder, Nyjer Morgan and the 2011 Milwaukee Brewers. I don't think that the forest was ready for me because all signs of life disappeared as soon as I asserted my dominance over them. Nature may have been here first but man is king of this planet now. That's not necessarily a good thing but it is something that is out of my control. Someday nature may reclaim the throne but until then I'll continue to come out here and remind them that I'm the boss.

Eddie is pretty damn crafty and he's always looking for a new project. You already saw the rock that he carved for Timmy. Now he was looking for rocks to carve into arrowheads.

Jenny and I walked ahead because Mom and Eddie were busy looking for rocks or birds or singing woodland creatures or something. I don't know what adults look for on a nature hike despite the fact that I am age appropriate to be one. And speaking of being age appropriate they certainly didn't act like adults when I turned to check on them. They acted like a couple of goofy little kids.

Time doesn't matter at Afterglow. Virtually nothing matters up here because everything is almost always perfect. That's why this place is paradise. You can doing anything you want and you are doing it with the people who you love. When we were finally able to leave Memory Point for today we continued walking around the lake and took our time. It's not like we had anything better to do.

This is Pete's tree. He was telling Jenny and I about it yesterday and how it stands out from every other tree in the woods. It's bright orange color really does set it apart and he says that the way the light catches it at certain times of the day makes it seem like it is a shining beacon across the lake. I think it's really cool but to me it's still a tree. Nothing more, nothing less. But it's still pretty cool.

I don't praise my photography skills because I don't really think that I have any. I've got a certain eye but for the most part the pictures are just an excuse to tell a story. I work in words and the pictures are complimentary. But everything that I just typed is unnecessary because these are some damn fine pictures that need no explanation. But that will never stop me from trying. I don't know when to quit.

We found Pete's stash on the trail around the lake. If he didn't want us to find it then he should not have tried to hide it in plain view. It was a collection of brush, branches and wooden doors and cabinets that he probably replaced in the cabins. As a fellow pyromaniac I can see why he brought it out here. We've witnessed one of Pete's big ass bonfires in the past (back in 2002) but didn't get to see this pile of crap set ablaze. While that would have been incredible I am satisfied with the fire that I had last night.

Eddie was looking around for a new walking stick and Jenny and I just sat idly by and watched. Even though I picked up the largest branch I could find and claimed it as my walking stick, I still don't see the point of having one. That's probably because I'm not old and I don't do a lot of walking. I'm sure that if either of those apply to you then you might need more stability. My couch gives me all the stability that I'll ever need.

On that afternoon and today while I'm typing this I had the same thought - I hardly ever walk around the lake anymore. In fact I'd be hard pressed to remember the last time that I did. Because of that I had forgotten how nice everything looked from over here and what a peaceful stroll through the woods this really is. I'll probably forget in July but I'd like to do this again this summer.

I really like this picture because of the grand scope and scale of it. I took it with my the camera on my phone which allows me to shoot in widescreen which gives it a panoramic look. The water and the variation of colors on the trees make me feel all warm and at ease. That's what Afterglow does to you.
