Afterglow 2011 - Day 1 Saturday

Most of the music we have created in our band The Back Alley Burners is unsuitable for all audiences. That's why I'm the only one who listens to our music. Our songs average 9 minutes in length and about half of that is offensive or filled with vulgarity. I can't help but do that when I make up my own lyrics. I just have a filthy mind I guess. That's why Timmy was so good up here. He was a performer who is used to catering to the crowd. We had a lot of work to do if we are ever going to come close to entertaining the crowds like Timmy did. I don't know if we could.

The Back Alley Burners couldn't be PG enough for this crowd, which is we went under the name The 13th Dimension. We were a little rough (only been practicing for this gig for under 3 months) but I think it is safe to say that the people got their money's worth.

These people didn't pay anything for this concert, which is the only reason that they got their money's worth. But I'm sure we were still able to entertain with hits like Simple Man, Cats in the Cradle and Mary Jane's Last Dance. We weren't great, but we still rocked.

This would be Eddie's 2nd year at Afterglow but I still haven't been able to convince him to stay more than one night. Well I guess one night with Eddie is better than no nights at all. Say what you want but he's a good guy and he makes my Mom happy. That's good for me.

At the time Jenny and Rez (which is a nickname - his real name is Mike Domres) had been dating for a few years so he was allowed to join us up North for a few days. They have since broken up but remain friends, so I feel like it's ok to put this picture on this site.

Someone always has to mind the fire so that we have warmth, a cooking device for scrumptious marshmallows and background ambiance for our songs. Uncle Rick or Brian normally take this job and excel at it, but tonight Eddie decided to be the fire man. Anybody can throw some logs on an already burning fire, but it takes a man with skill to do it properly. And let me tell you that Eddie fits the bill and keeps that fire burning.

The nice thing about the assembled crowd is that it is mostly all family and they are pretty forgiving when it comes to shoddy attempts as playing music. That makes it easier for struggling artists like ourselves to hone our craft in a safe environment. There's no place like it.

Melissa lovingly proclaimed Brian as "BK cousin-in-law" and it was the start of a very weird relationship between the two of them with James caught in the middle. If you don't believe me just ask to hear a song we recorded called Fingalightas in the Sky. You'll thank me later.
