Afterglow 2011 - Day 2 Sunday

I always get a picture with Eddie on the dock before he leaves. It's becoming an annual tradition. The best part about it is that he is a good sport about it. In fact, I think he actually enjoys it!

I hear that the morning is good for fishing. I wouldn't know. I usually use the morning to recover from the night before. The only person I knew that fished up here was Uncle Dan. That was about to change because Rez brought along his fishing gear and was itching to provide Cabin #2 with the catch of the day. And from the looks of it (and Kelly's reaction to said catch) Afterglow does not provide a bounty big enough for a King's Feast. And that makes me and my tummy sad. Pete better get on that real quick.

I'm pretty sure that this is a chipmunk. I asked the little varmint if this was true but he didn't respond. This isn't the Squeakquel. Real life chipmunks don't talk like in the movies. This little bastard would be my nemesis all week, and will certainly come into play later on.

Bananas are funny. I might be going out on a limb, but I'm going to toss my hat into the ring and state that the banana is the funniest food in the world. Corndogs and popsicles come in 2nd and 3rd respectively, but neither of them can hold a candle to a banana. You know what else is funny? A fake mustache. Especially a poorly drawn fu manchu. Leave it to the insanity of Kevin McKissick to have both in this picture. Seriously. That kid is a wack job. He's nuttier than a pecan log. This is what happens when you let some lunatic have creative control over your web site.

By this image alone you would probably infer that James fished this chair out of the water. That statement would be incorrect. He found it down the path a little ways and brought it to our cabin so Mom could relax in it. Only I fish them chairs out of the water.

Today was Sunday, which meant that it was time for Eddie to go back home. Even in his 2nd year I couldn't convince him to stay more than 1 night up here. Even though it takes 5 hours each way, I couldn't reason with him to spend more time up here with us.

Stacy and Tommy both go to college in LaCrosse. And both of them play an inordinate amount of ping pong out there. I guess instead of hitting the books they're hitting the balls. But it was only natural that they would bring their game up North. Some heated matches ensued.

Mom gets a picture with Eddie too, but I'm sure she has a different reason. I'd tell you what it is, but to be quite honest with you I don't know what my reason is. Looks like I have some figuring out to do.

I love Afterglow. That's obvious. So I can't understand how someone could ride all the way up here just to stay for less than 24 hours. It would kill me to have to go back home after just getting up here. But Eddie is still a newbie. Someday he'll learn you have to spend a week.

We were sitting around the cabin contemplating our next move, which for me meant trying to figure out a way to round up a posse to kidnap Eddie and hold him for ransom. That would essentially keep him up here for a few days until his kids could come up with the money.
