Afterglow 2013 - Day 3 Monday

After 2 nights of raging alone I finally asked the kids to come up to KK and rage with me. I had assumed that this was a given and that I didn't need to send out the vibe or a Facebook event invite, but apparently people need to be told when and where to rage. Whatever. I'm over it. We had a lovely time and there were some things that may or may not have been recorded that you may or may not be able to find at The Daily Burner. Just don't tell the kids. Some of them aren't so keen to the idea of providing entertainment to the World.

After dinner the weather had cleared up and we were treated to a magnificent night. That's Karma man. We had to suffer through some dark clouds and rain in order to see something this beautiful. Pete is fully prepared for moments like this and was in the neighborhood, so he took a couple of nature pictures and then captured Carlos interacting with the surroundings. Pete knows how to work that camera.

Sometimes I don't even know why I bother with the words. What am I supposed to say about pictures like this? They're beautiful. The lighting is just right. The colors are magnificent. It feels warm. It feels safe. I want to stay in this moment forever. God gifted this to us. We should be thankful for the little things in life. We need to slow down and appreciate the beauty all around us. You know.

The rain did clear up for a while but then it returned. It wasn't that bad, but it was bad enough to chase us away from the campfire that night. It's alright though because we can always find something fun to do here at Afterglow. This led to a raging game of Apples to Apples. This is one of our favorite games to play and it gets pretty ridiculous once the entire family gets involved. You never know what is going to happen next and the laughs just keep on coming. As long as I'm surrounded by family, there's never a dull moment.

Another day comes to an end. They tend to fly by so fast. It's hard to spend an entire year counting down to these moments and then feel them slip through your fingers. I wish that time would slow down up here. It kind of does in a way because when you are at Afterglow, nothing else seems to matter but in reality these days are just as long as every other day during the year. Does that make sense? I hope not. My goal is to always keep you guessing. Once you catch on to my ruse you will probably stop paying attention. And when you stop paying attention I am left to my own devices where I am sitting by myself, talking to myself. That's... that's chaos. We want to try and avoid that at all costs, even if it means assigning a permanent chaperone to watch over me. You want the job? We are currently accepting applications. Please submit them to my secretary.

I didn't play Apples to Apples. I don't know why. I wasn't really feeling it that night. I was a casual observer then I had to take over for Aunt Sandy when she abruptly left the game. I had no business getting involved but neither did Carlos. You never stick your nose in unless you have no other choice. So we were in the right! Ah hah! I will go tell him!
