Afterglow 2013 - Day 3 Monday

Back in November when we all went to Dave & Buster's, we tuned in our tickets and got South Park dolls. Brian got Cartman, Curtis got Kenny, Jenny got Kyle and I got Stan. We made signed a pact to bring them up here and whoever didn't had to buy the people who did some booze. Technically I'm the only one who remembered to bring it. I counted on Jenny and Curtis to forget. They really came through for me. I figured that Brian would remember his but he forgot to ask off for work. I don't know if I mentioned it yet, but he didn't come to Afterglow this year. Stacy fulfilled Brian's end of the bargain by bringing Cartman. She carried it with her all week.

I'm usually the last one out of the water. This may have to do with the fact that I love it more than everyone else but we all know the real truth - I'm the slowest one of the bunch. In the event that a Tyrannosaurus Rex is chasing us, the other kids would be free to run while the ferocious beast feasts upon my bulbous corpse. I pray it doesn't end that way. I can't die at the hands of my greatest fear. That just isn't fair. I'm going to pretend that T-Rex isn't waiting for me behind the trees shrouded by the mist. It will help me sleep better tonight. Well that and the booze. The booze always helps put me to sleep. It's better than any lullaby or warm glass of milk.

This is the best place in the World. As you've come to realize over the years of browsing this site, we spend a lot of time up on top of the HD. And why not? It's usually warm when the sun is out, you don't have to wear a shirt and it comes with a view. It's perfect.

There were only 3 of us on the HD, and three's only company. 4 is a crowd. We love crowds. Curtis knows this, so he knew it was in the best interest of everyone to join us up there. We saw him wading into the water and waited with bated joy for his coming.

While the dudes displayed their manliness through feats of high dives, the kids (Bella, June, Maddie and Clare) stayed behind on the beach to build some lovely sandcastles. Upon our return to the shores we would view them. And judge them with love.

If 4 is a crowd, then 5 must be a gathering. Crazy things happen at gatherings. Riots. Rallies. And Revolutions. There was a Revolution brewing up there on that day. I only hope that we fully wake up to realize the majesty happening in our midst.

The time had come to abandon our post and return to dry land. It's always a sad time of day when the sun nears the horizon and the temperature starts to fall because another day in paradise is coming to an end. We have a finite number of days up here in a calendar year and it makes me weep as another one comes off of the books. But it was only Monday. On Monday there are no nears. There is no sadness. There is only joy allowed on this day. My friends the week was only beginning. There was so much to look forward to.
