Afterglow 2006 - Day 2

I woke up pretty early on Sunday morning, and no one else was awake. I guess I am trained to wake up early up here because I sleep in the living room on the pull out sofa. When everyone else is up, then I have to be up. I soon found out that Faith and Janelle were also awake, so we went outside to color with chalk on the road.

Faith was drawing a rocket ship with some people inside of it. She had an intricate story describe the individuals inside (I believe it was her family) and even managed to draw the correct eye color for each person inside of the ship. Faith is one of the smartest little kids that I have had the opportunity to color on the road with.

I have the same problem that faith has, only I have had to last 20 years to correct it. I haven't made any strides thus far. My imagination tells me to draw the Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland, but this was the best that I could do. I did manage to include a broccoli flower for some added realism.

Kevin was sitting idly by watching from the picnic table and decided to get in on the fun. He originally outlined his feet, then wrote his initials within the footprints to show ownership. Thinking that this might not be enough to suede the unruly Afterglow art critics, he added a heart with an arrow through it. He may not have won over the judges, but I certainly fell head-over-heals for this young gentleman.

At the time, Faith was only 5 years old (she's now 6) and lacked the artistic talent to bring the images from her imagination into reality on the sidewalk. That's why I paid so much attention to her as she explained her drawings. This one is a cow or a zebra floating down towards the ground with a Sponge Bob Squarepants parachute.

Any of the well-drawn pictures that you see on the ground were drawn by Janelle. Faith's drawings were nice but not art-house quality. Before you start hating on me for bashing a 5-year-old, just remember that she is only 5 and she has the rest of her life to improve. You definitely have every right to bash my artistic talents. I will always allow you to bash anything that I have created because I believe in myself 100%.
