Afterglow 2014 - Day 5 Wednesday

Curtis was stranded all by his lonesome out on the HD. Tis a sad day to be a Curti. It's a good thing that he has a life partner (wife Susie) who is looking out for him. She jumped in a kayak and rigged up a connector system (a life jacket) to tow another kayak in her wake. And just like that, Curtis had a way to return to shore while keeping his body dry. Some people have all the luck...
By now I've forgotten what this dog's name is. I've called her solemn, bunny hill. chair lift and abominable snowman. It doesn't matter. That dog doesn't  come when I call her, so let her be.
Superman can't be Superman all the time. He can't always be saving the World. The Daily Planet has deadlines that need to be met. The people demand news stories. They don't need Superman. They need Clark Kent. So the Superman costume was hung up on the line to dry out (for next time) and Kevin assumed his mild mannered daily personality. While some of you might find this sad, I find it be refreshing. We can't always be typical superheroes. We can save the world in other ways.

I don't know why we didn't see this moment coming. Years ago Kevin promised that he was only going to bring costumes up to Afterglow. Every day he would wear a different outfit, like naughty nurse, slutty cop or Spiderman. And his Mother Carol would be so proud of him. Well, probably not. But I would. He didn't bring a suitcase full of costumes, but the one that he did bring contained a giant "S", a symbol that stands for hope on my planet. Hope for what? I have no idea. Hope that I'm still alive next year for yet another Afterglow. Hope that I never forget how to rage. Hope that I never grow up. Hope that I'll never forget all of these amazing adventures in my life. I Hope that I win. Win what?

Everyone is searching for a hero. We do this every day. But I don't think we rarely ever expect to see one in real life, especially not one as notorious as Superman. But that's what emerged from the beach that day. It wasn't a bird. It wasn't a plane. He was faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. This looks like a job for Superman.

Stacy sure does love her cousins, but she also respects her elders. That's what makes her the chosen one. She tool the time to pose for a picture with AK and UG (her D). And they all loved it.

There must have been some kind of kayak party happening out there on the lake, but I wouldn't know because I wasn't invited. Must have gotten lost in the mail. But these kids gathered for a soiree that was so elite, I was regulated to taking pictures from the shore.
