Afterglow 2016 - Day 5 Wednesday

Kevin was on the low dive trying to impress no one and Jenny and I were on the high dive trying to impress our Mother. It must have been her on the beach taking pictures because I can't imagine anyone else wasting their precious vacation time watching us standing on a wooden floating device going nowhere in life. Sucks to be her! But who am I to judge? I'm the one that stole these pictures from her and am using them for profit. But it's not stealing if it is free, right? It better not be, as I've lived my entire life by that motto. I'd hate to be wrong now.

The time had come for Mom to leave the beach (and put down her camera) and join us in the water. At that moment I switched places with her and captured the memories for all to see. I call it taking one for the team. Making sacrifices is a part of life.

It was time to go swimming. But with the Afterglow clock, isn't is always time to go swimming? We've done it in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening and at night. If there was a giant afterglow clock with all numbers except for 5 and the 5 was replaced with "swimming", the Afterglow clock would be set at "swimming". Because it's always swimming o'clock somewhere, right?

There's only so much "MOM! MOM! MOM!" you can do until she looks and finally pays attention. But once she does you need to take action and can no longer stand around looking like a goof on the high dive. So with Mom looking on (thankfully through a camera lens), Jenny jumped off and then I jumped off. These kinds of things tend to happen over the course of a life especially with our Mother. She has spend the better part of her life being prepared for moments like these when her kids demand her attention and photo taking skills.

If there is anyone better than me in preserving memories, it is my Mother. She insisted that the Cousins get together for this photo. It's true that we were missing James, Gary & Stefani and Curtis & Beege went home, but we still represented well.
