Camping with Dad (2009)

Percy sat by the road and waited for my Dad to come back. That dog loves my Dad in a way that I never thought I would understand. But my cat Coach Gordon Bombay loves me more than anyone else in the universe, so I get it. But Percy would not hang out with me.

Dad bought this pet carrier to hook up his bike so that Percy could come along on bike rides. And although he probably didn't like it very much, he put up with it because he's a good sport. I rode next to them and took pictures. It's probably a good think that there isn't too much traffic on those roads because like texting and driving, riding bikes and taking pictures is a bad idea. But I did it anyway 'cause I'm awesome.

We took a bike ride over to the each to go swimming. It was kind of cold out so I just waded in while Dad and Percy played along the beach. There's this sweet lighthouse there. I think it looks cool.

When Dad got back Percy went crazy and jumped up into his lap. I was glad to have my Dad back too but I didn't show it like that. Now that he was done with his work day the real fun could begin.

Percy got bored and decided to sleep instead of wait. I may have dozed off sitting in my fold up camping chair, but I doubt it was as comfortable as that bathroom mat. Animals have this odd way of picking the most comfortable places. Like sleeping on your clothes.

Today was a Friday. I took off of work but Dad wasn't so lucky. He had to sit in on a conference call and needed to go into town where he got better service. So I hung out with the dog and we sat around the campsite. I always move pretty slow in the morning, but at my age the morning after drinking makes me move doubly slow. So I'm glad that Percy had no problem being lazy and lounging around outdoors.

Since I was bored I did what any bored 28 year old would do - drink and start a fire. I tried to gather wood from the forest so that I didn't have to burn the wood that I bought,  but in the end the sticks and twigs just weren't enough to sustain the fire so I threw on the logs. At $3 a bundle I could afford to buy more. I've always wanted to burn money but couldn't stomach the sight of Washington and Lincoln in flames, so this is the next best thing I guess. I can't think of a better way to waste the afternoon.
