Afterglow 2007 - Day 4 Tuesday |
James is getting old, hence the yawn in this picture. He is getting beyond the point where he can drink and stay up late with the kids, which worries me, because I'm only 1 1/2 years younger than him. Sooner or later, that's gonna be me sitting around in the morning yawning instead of drinking. Man that's gonna suck. |
People always wondered where I got my drinking habits from. You don't have to look any further than the two gentlemen in the water holding giant mugs of booze. These two men are my Uncle Rick and my Uncle Greg. They've taught me the finer points of mid-day drinking up here at Afterglow, and I owe them everything. |
These shirts have since become the Reck family uniform, and I need to go out and purchase one for Jenny and my Mom so that all 5 of us can wear it at special occasions, like Afterglow and the 3rd of July. One day we will all stand proudly together, united as a family of Brewers fans. We'll show those Cubbies who's the boss. |
The water balloon pass used to be my favorite activity because you have the potential the take control of the game every time the sponge is in your hands. If you want your team to win, you can cradle the sponge. If you want to lose, you can squeeze it. Putting that much power into the hands of kids never yields positive results. |
It was Tuesday afternoon, and that meant that it was time for our old favorite Afterglow event - the obstacle course. There had been a time when I wanted nothing more than to participate, now I want nothing more than to not participate. I wish that I could say that it was because I was getting too old to do this, but it's more like I'm getting too lazy to do it. I'd rather sit back with a drink in my hand and watch the little kids like Faith go ape-wild over this crazy event. Those kids eat that stuff up like nobody's business. I'm totally ok with that, because if it wasn't for the kids, these events that I loved as a kid would have died long ago. Their enthusiasm ensures the longevity of my childhood favorites. |
I guarantee that by this time in the day, I had more to drink that Jenny did. Even so, I still had to struggle to match her enthusiasm. Even if I have a few cocktails in me, go to SeaWorld and take my pants off, I still am not as happy at this moment as Jenny is. I'm going to have to ask her how she does it... |
For me, there's nothing better than starting out the day with a giant mug of booze. Oh wait - there is something better; finding someone to share a share a giant mug of booze with you. That way you're not the only one drinking excessively in the morning. Having a drinking buddy around always makes it that much sweeter. |
