South Carolina 2011 - The Packers

Visiting James and Melissa was the main event, but this Packers game is definitely right up there if not tied for the coolest part of the trip. Even they would admit that going to the Packers game was as good as seeing us. But seeing that we're a bunch of ragamuffins, they probably liked the game more. And what's not to like? They live far away from Green Bay but made it to the game against the Falcons in Atlanta during the 2010-2011 playoffs (the year they won the Superbowl). I had purchased tickets on EBay prior to coming down here so we wouldn't have to worry about finding them. That gave us plenty of time to kick back in the parking lot, relax, drink some beers and get ready to cheer on the Packers.

Uncle Gary had brought along a friend / co-worker / a client that he was wining and dining / some chick and she bought along with her a very nice tailgate spread complete with a table with a checkered cloth to put it on. We were rather impressed because we just brought beer and rum. I didn't know you were even supposed to have non liquids that don't get you drunk while hanging in the parking lot. Must be a girl thing.

Kevin was being naughty and was in need of a spanking. But even though we are kissing cousins I wasn't about to go there. So I just watched as he sat there in his jorts clutching a bottle of orange soda. I thought about it for a minute but decided it would upset my Mother.

The locals might call Saturday Gameday because they are enamored with College Sports, but this is my Gameday (at least during Football Season). I was getting amped up to see my 1st Packers road game and only my 4th Packers game ever. I was hoping for a really good day.

Uncle Gary's friend seemed pretty cool. Or at least that's what I got from the few words I had with her. I don't even remember her name. But at the time (and now) I was going pretty heavy on the rum.

There always has to be "that guy" in the picture. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present... myself in the background of this otherwise nice picture of Uncle Gary and Kevin. Nice work pal.

Since we were all in the picture we had to ask some nearby people to take our picture. It is customary then to return the favor. When they asked if I could take their picture I did... but with my camera. You didn't specify. Don't assume folks. You won't get the pic you wanted.

I hang out with Kevin a lot. Some would say too much considering that he is almost 10 years younger than me. That's why I call him my cousin because it would otherwise weird people out that I have that kind of relationship with this kid. We're in a band and we write for a news blog and thanks to our hobbies, we spend an inordinate amount of time together. Then of course there's Afterglow. We'll always have Afterglow.

We too the requisite group shot before beginning the clean up and walk to the stadium. We didn't have too much time to get ready for the game drunk-wise, but that doesn't matter when you have rum. Screw beer. If you want to party then make sure you rock spirits.

I had to take this picture of James and Melissa because they were the whole reason we were down here. There is no way I would have ever roadtripped it to the Carolinas for a Green Bay Packers game. Look, I love me some football, but not enough to take this trip.

These guys came here just to tailgate. That was evident by the witches pot for stew brewing and the TV setup on the back of the truck. There was nothing wrong with that and I was almost ready to sell my ticket and hang with them but everyone else wanted to go in.

It was quite a haul over to the stadium which was fine for those who were physically fit. I'm not one of those people. I was lagging behind which is why Kevin made sure to turn around, check on me and remind me to rage. That little bastard is always keeping an eye on me.

I haven't seen someone that excited for something panther related since Brian Fantana first tried on Sex Panther. It has real bits of panther in it. That's how you know it's good. 60% of the time, it works every time. And if you are Gary you have better odds than that.
