Afterglow - Rage for Timmy II: The Secret of the Ooze

We gathered for a little while on the beach just soaking up the moment. We certainly weren't soaking up much sun because it was partially hiding behind the clouds as it often does in the Spring. But the weather was just nice enough to comfortably stay outside.

By now the Pact is iron-clad and well respected around the world. So even if we chose not to swim today we would never be able to get away with it. There are checks and balances and people are monitoring our every move to hold us true to our promises. At times (most notably when I dip my toe in to test the cold water) where I wish I didn't sign this lifetime Pact, but I know that it has made me the man that I am today. But I didn't feel like a man when I was immersed in the water. It was better than when we came here in October, but not by much.

My Dad is a pretty cool guy.  Aside from everything that he helps me out with and has taught me, he lets me get away with a lot of shit. And that's not to say that everyone else reels me in, but my Pops is ultra lenient. That kind of freedom isn't free. It costs a hefty f'n fee.

We're a couple of idiots. There really no way to sugar coat it folks. But these idiots were also the first people to swim in 2012 according to Gail. The people who plunge into a hole in the ice in winter don't count because they're in and out in a few seconds. They might be the first ones in the lake, but only we are stupid enough to stay in there long enough for a swim. But we had to do it. We signed the well known Swimming Pact.

This is the revolution. Never mind what Uncle Greg or anyone tells you. I may be alone in my opinion here but how else do you change the world and a way of thinking than by living outside of your comfort zone? Ok, so maybe this is more of a personal revolution. So what.

In the fall it was necessary to cover up right away then head straight for the hot tub. In the Spring it was a whole different story mate. The air temperature was quite nice and we could have sat out here for some time, but we decided not to. This was our last day at Afterglow.
