Camping with Dad

Swimming in Lake Michigan was amazing. At this beach, there were big waves and sand bars 50 feet out into the water. I haven't had this much fun in Lake Michigan since I was a little kid. I wouldn't go near the water near Milwaukee. They should really do something about that.

When it got dark, we went down to the beach to check out the stars. It was a little cloudy out, but we were able to see enough. It's so nice to get out of the city and just look up. Gives you a whole new perspective of everything.

Maybe the clarity that I was seeing came from the can of Miller Lite that I found time to consume, but I highly doubt it. It is truly amazing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just exist in nature.

I convinced my Dad Mike to go swinging on the swing set. There was nothing else to do except for sleep, and since it was only 9:00 and we weren't tired, we played around on the playground and had a jolly old time.

If you know me at all, then you would know that I am so much like a little kid that you would swear that I never grew up. I enjoy a lot of the simple things in life, and can have an entire evening's worth of fun in one swing.

It was tine to go back to the campsite and hang out a while before hitting the sack. We had brought enough firewood with us to cook dinner (mmm cheddar dogs and corn on the cob) and to keep warm at night and cook some marshmallows. Me and my Dad sat around and talked for a long while (one of those father/son bonding moments that you thought only happened on TV) and it got late enough that sleep seemed like a good idea. We ran out of firewood, and the fire started to die. I went around looking for firewood in the dark, and vowed to stay awake until I could no longer keep the fire going. This went on for a good hour until all I could find were small twigs, so I figured I'd go to bed.
